There are many perks of being an Xfinity Mobile customer. Having the ability to switch your data option is a big one. Whether you have Unlimited or you're paying By the Gig, you can always change your mind to best suit your data needs.
We'll also send you data notifications to help you track By the Gig usage, so keeping an eye out isn't all on you.
Go for Unlimited
With Xfinity Mobile’s Unlimited options, you can choose between two data options — Premium Unlimited or Unlimited. Your Unlimited monthly data price depends on how many phone lines you have on your account and which data option you choose..
Premium Unlimited includes:

- 30GB of high-speed personal hotspot data
- Xfinity Call Guard — shield your phone from pesky spam calls in just a few taps
- Elite Upgrade — get a discount on a new phone, up to twice a year, even when your current device isn’t fully paid off.

- Unlimited hotspot data at 3G speeds

Pay By the Gig
With Xfinity Mobile’s By the Gig data option, you can use 1 GB of data at a time and share it with others on your account. You’ll be charged for each additional partial or full GB of data you use.
By the Gig includes:
- 1GB of premium data — pay by the gig
- Unlimited hotspot data at 5G/4G speeds
- HD video
Use Data Saver in the Xfinity app to help manage your data use and costs.
Any By the Gig line that uses more than 20 GB in a month will have reduced speeds until the end of the bill cycle.
Similarities
Both options include 4G LTE data, and 5G access where coverage is available. Regardless of which data option you choose, your phone can auto-connect to secure Xfinity WiFi hotspots, where data is free and does not count against your usage.
If you want to upgrade to our latest price plan, you can do that in the Xfinity app, by using the My Account tools online or by calling or chatting with us.
While text messages don’t count as data, any images or videos you send as part of a text message do count as data. If you find yourself texting many images and videos, Unlimited might be right for you.
As an Xfinity Mobile customer, you get up to 10 lines with your Xfinity Mobile account. The amount of lines you qualify for is based on a credit check.
Mix and match
Data can get personal. While one person on your account might devour data every month, others might be cool with going By the Gig and sharing. You can mix and match data options for all lines on your account.

Note: Starting April 15, 2025, the By the Gig data plan will only be available through our assisted sales and support channels. If you're already on this plan, don't worry—nothing changes for you! You'll still be able to manage your By the Gig lines via the Xfinity app app or online at Xfinity.com/mobile.
