When you’ve reached your monthly data usage threshold, or you’re in a crowded area, the cellular data speeds on your Xfinity Mobile line may be slower than usual.
Avoiding slower speeds in crowded areas
Sometimes, your phone’s data can slow down in busy places like concerts or sporting events. That’s because lots of people are using their phones at the same time. This is called network congestion.
To help with this, Xfinity Mobile gives you prioritized data. Prioritized data means less buffering and faster speeds, especially when there’s a lot of demand on the network.
Here’s what each plan includes:
- Premium Unlimited: 100 GB of prioritized data each month, per line.
- Unlimited: 30 GB of prioritized data each month, per line.
- By the Gig: 20 GB of prioritized data each month, per line.
- Tablet Unlimited: 15 GB of prioritized data each month, per line.
If you use all your prioritized monthly cellular data, your data may slow down when the network is busy. But you’ll still be able to use your phone.
Reaching your monthly data usage threshold
When your Xfinity Mobile line exceeds its monthly cellular data usage threshold, speeds are no longer prioritized.
- Premium Unlimited: Speeds are not reduced.
- By the Gig and Unlimited: Speeds are reduced to a maximum of 1.5 Mbps download/750 Kbps upload.
- Tablet Unlimited: Speeds are reduced to a maximum of 5 Mbps download/2 Mbps upload.
When your next billing cycle starts, your line will be back to full speed.
In the meantime, you may notice some lag time when doing things that require a lot of data (like streaming video and gaming online), so we recommend connecting to WiFi whenever it’s available.
