This document provides instructions on what to do if you receive the "Trouble naming WiFi Extenders" or "WiFi Extender can't be found to name" error message when activating your Xfinity WiFi Extenders from the Xfinity mobile app.
Next steps
If you receive this error message during the Xfinity WiFi Extenders activation process, you can select Skip Naming WiFi Extender to proceed through activation. Xfinity WiFi Extenders can be named or renamed any time after activation.
To try to troubleshoot during activation:
- Make sure that you are holding your phone approximately six to eight inches away from the Xfinity WiFi Extender that you are trying to name.
- Confirm that your Xfinity WiFi Extenders are not plugged in to power outlets that are connected to light switches.
- Make sure that your Xfinity WiFi Extenders are visible and not blocked by furniture or other large objects.
- Try unplugging the Xfinity WiFi Extender and plugging it back in.
- It may take a minute for the Xfinity WiFi Extender to connect.
- Check for a small light on the front of the Xfinity WiFi Extender when first plugged in.
- If no light turns on when the Xfinity WiFi Extender is first plugged in, contact us to order a replacement Xfinity WiFi Extender.
