What Problem Are You Having?

I Can't Dim My Lights (Centralite)

Ensure that your light bulbs are actually dimmable. If your lights are dimmable:
  1. Tap the Light Switch to turn the light on.
  2. Press and hold the top section of the Switch to begin dimming the light.
  3. When the light reaches your preferred brightness, release the Switch.
  4. To turn the light on or off after dimming, tap the Switch.

XFINITY Home - Secure: Did you set the Light Switch to dimmable when you paired it with your System? You can easily check your dimmable settings in your Touchscreen Controller.
  1. What does your Touchscreen Controller look like?
    • If your Home screen looks like the one below, tap the More icon (three dots at the upper right) to open the More menu, then tap Settings. Continue with Step 2.

I Can't Dim My Lights (GE)

Ensure that your light bulbs are dimmable; the dimmer setting only works with dimmable bulbs.

The Light Flickers When the Light Switch is Turned Off

This sometimes happens when using fluorescent (CFL) light bulbs in a non-dimmable light operated by a dimmable Light Switch. Replace the bulb with an LED or incandescent light bulb.

If you don't have a dimmable light or don't want to use one, replace the Light Switch with a non-dimmable Light Switch.

My Light Switch Doesn't Always Turn the Light On or Off

Turn the light on from the Subscriber Portal, XFINITY Home app for mobile devices or Touchscreen Controller to make sure the blue LED on the Light Switch turns on.

If the LED turns on, but the light does not:
  • Check the lightbulb to make sure it's not burned out.
  • If the Light Switch is dimmable, make sure the dimmer isn't set all the way to its lowest setting (the light might be on but not appear to be).
  • Make sure you're not trying to use the Light Switch for three-way switching (where one light is controlled by two Light Switches). Three-way switching is not supported.

If the LED doesn't turn on, check your circuit breakers to make sure there is power to the Light Switch. If there is power, but no LED light, call 1-800-XFINITY for help.

Before Pairing, the Light Switch Won't Turn the Light On and Off

Before pairing, the Light Switch should function as a normal switch. If it doesn't, check the wiring. It may not be wired correctly.

Make sure you're not trying to use the Light Switch for three-way switching (where one light is controlled by two Light Switches). Three-way switching is not supported.

My Light Switch Won't Pair (GE)

You may be able to move the Touchscreen Controller closer to the location where you want to install the Light Switch. We don't recommend moving the Touchscreen Controller from where it was installed, but if you do, make sure it doesn't lose connection with your router/gateway.

Remove any other wireless devices, such as the internet modem, router, cordless phone, etc. between the Light Switch and the Touchscreen Controller.

Your Light Switch should be able to pair if it is within 65 feet of the Touchscreen Controller, but you may need to try a closer location depending on the construction of intervening walls (for example, brick versus drywall) or other obstacles (large appliances such as a refrigerator).

If these actions don't resolve the issue, try resetting your Light Switch.

I Need to Reset My Light Switch

  1. Remove the wall plate to expose the Light Switch.
  2. The air gap switch is a small tab at the bottom of the Switch's plastic panel. Disconnect power at the Switch by pulling out the air gap switch until it clicks.
    • Important: Make sure that the air gap switch is fully extended and that you hear the click.

  3. While pressing the Switch's top button, push in the air gap switch and hold it.
  4. After two seconds, the blue LED turns on. Release the button and the switch.
  5. Re-pair the Light Switch to your system.
