Troubleshooting the Xfinity Pro WiFi Extender is simple and easy with the Xfinity app.
To get started, open the Xfinity app and go to WiFi tab > View WiFi equipment > Pro WiFi Extender > Troubleshoot Device. The Xfinity app will troubleshoot your Pro WiFi Extender and provide a status for your WiFi signal, cellular signal and Battery Backup (sold separately).
Below are solutions to problems you may experience with your Pro WiFi Extender.
WiFi signal low
If you have a low WiFi signal level, move the Pro WiFi Extender closer to the Xfinity Gateway.
Place the device near a window to ensure a strong cellular signal, and at least one room away from the gateway to avoid interference. To improve WiFi coverage, place it in a room that is roughly halfway between your gateway and an area without coverage.
Poor cellular signal
If you have poor cellular signal, move your Pro WiFi Extender close to an elevated position near a window and try troubleshooting again.
Battery Backup not fully charged after activation
If you have a Battery Backup and the device is not 100% charged 24 hours after activation, check that the wiring is correct.
Battery Backup light blinking
If you have a Battery Backup and the device is blinking for more than 30 minutes, press and hold the reset button for 10 or more seconds. If necessary, reboot the Pro WiFi Extender by holding the reset button for 15 seconds. To learn more about device status lights, see what the lights on your Pro WiFi Extender mean.
