The NBA is back for the 2026-27 season. With games airing across national TV networks, streaming services, and regional sports networks, knowing where to find the game you want to watch isn’t always straightforward. From games airing on broadcast TV networks to games exclusive to streaming, here is a closer look at what to know about how to watch games this season.
How to watch NBA games on TV and streaming
- Watch local NBA games on regional sports networks (example: Philadelphia 76ers games can be seen on NBC Sports Philadelphia).
- National NBA games will air live on NBC, ABC, ESPN, Peacock, and Prime Video. Not sure if you have these channels? Check your channel lineup.
- ABC and ESPN: 80 regular season games on Wednesdays, plus Sundays (afternoon games), Fridays, and Saturdays (night games) beginning mid-season.
- NBC and Peacock: 100 regular season games on Mondays and Tuesdays, plus Sundays (night games) beginning mid-season.
- Prime Video: 66 regular season games on Fridays, plus Saturday (afternoon games) and Thursdays beginning mid-season.
- NBA League Pass will broadcast all games that are not available on a national platform or in the viewer’s local market.
- National NBA games are also available with NBA TV: the best lineup in the league, with 24/7 coverage, live games, highlights, expert analysis, and all the action fit for the court. NBA TV is available to X1 customers with the Ultimate TV package.
- Local and national NBA games are available with Xfinity Sports & News TV.
Key dates for the 2026-27 NBA season
- October 20: Season opening tripleheader begins with a matinee matchup followed by two back-to-back night games. Matchups are, respectively: Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia 76ers vs. New York Knicks, and Oklahoma City Thunder vs. San Antonio Spurs.
- October 30: Prime Video will stream 10 games during Group Play of the Emirates NBA Cup, with doubleheaders on five consecutive Fridays beginning October 30. The Knockout Rounds (December 4-9) and Championship Game (December 11) will air exclusively on Prime.
- December 25: ABC and ESPN will broadcast a five-game slate starting at 12:00 p.m. ET for NBA on Christmas Day. Schedule includes: San Antonio Spurs vs. New York Knicks, Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers vs. Los Angeles Lakers, Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, and Denver Nuggests vs. Golden State Warriors.
- January 18: Quadrupleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET for NBA on MLK Day will air on NBC and Peacock. Matchups include: Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers vs. Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves vs. New York Knicks, and Houston Rockets vs. Memphis Grizzlies.
- February 1: The NBA Pioneers Classic will feature the Detroit Pistons hosting the New York Knicks at 7:00 p.m. ET.
- February 19-21: Events for NBA All-Star 2027 in Phoenix begin Friday night with Rising Stars, continue with All-Star Saturday Night, and culminate with the All-Star Game on Sunday. All events will air on NBC and Peacock.
- April 11: All 30 NBA teams play on the last day of regular season.
