The Voice Remote from XFINITY Overview

The voice remote (XR11) from XFINITY is a remote control that allows XFINITY X1 customers to find what they want faster by using voice commands to change channels, search for shows, get recommendations and more. Customers can use their voice to quickly find their favorite content, tune to channels, search and control their DVR. Benefits include:

The voice remote from XFINITY is now available to eligible new and existing X1 customers. Visit your nearest XFINITY Store or Customer Service Center to pick one up in person or contact us to have one shipped to you (additional fees may apply).

Button Functions

  • TV Power: When the remote is programmed with a valid TV code, the TV Power button turns the TV on or off. Visit for programming information.
  • All Power: Turns on/off both the TV and TV box. Visit for programming information.
  • Status LED: Indicates different status conditions.
  • VOL: When the remote is programmed with a valid TV or AV receiver code, the VOL+ and VOL- buttons increase or decrease the volume.
  • CH: Use CH+ or CH- to select the next channel.
  • Mute: Turns sound off or on.
  • Play/Pause: Play or pause live TV, XFINITY On Demand or DVR content.
  • FF: Fast forward XFINITY On Demand or DVR content.
  • Rew: Rewind XFINITY On Demand or DVR content.
  • Exit: Exit on-screen guides; stop and exit XFINITY On Demand and DVR content. When replaying moments from a live TV program, press Exit to return to the "Live" point.
  • Record (red dot): Records the current program. Learn more about recording a current program on your X1 guide.
  • Replay: With DVR service, replay jumps back 15 seconds within a program.
  • Xfinity: Displays the main menu of the guide, providing access to all guide features, including DVR and XFINITY On Demand. For details on the main menu, see the overview of the X1 main menu.
  • Guide: Displays TV listings. When viewing the guide, press the Guide button to filter the guide by: All Channels, Favorites, HD, Movies, Sports, Kids and Trending. Learn more about navigating your X1 guide and filtering your X1 on-screen guide.
  • OK: Select a highlighted item within an on-screen menu.
  • Arrows: Arrow keys help to navigate through on-screen menus.
    • The right arrow pulls up the Mini-Guide (learn more about navigating the Mini-Guide on your X1 guide) to display what's on the current channel at that time. Press it again to preview up to 14 days ahead.
    • The down arrow accesses on-screen playback controls while watching any video.
  • Last: Returns to the previous channel or guide screen. Press Last when watching full-screen programming to see the last nine channels, DVR programs, or XFINITY On Demand programs watched.
  • Info: Displays detailed program information.
  • Page Up and Page Down:
    • Jump several rows up or down in the guide and in other menu pages.
    • Skip 10 minutes forward or back while watching XFINITY On Demand.
    • Skip five minutes forward or back while watching any live TV or DVR recording.
  • Setup: Used to pair a remote with the TV box or programs for control of the TV or AV receiver.
  • Microphone: Activates voice control.
  • TV Input: Selects available inputs.
  • A: Press the A button to view the Help menu.
  • B: Use the B button to display scaled video in the bottom right-hand corner when the full guide is displayed. See instructions about watching a program while browsing the X1 guide.
  • C: Press the C button to launch the Sports app and see scores, even while watching TV. Learn more about accessing the X1 sports app.
  • D: Use the D button to delete a single DVR recording or multiple recordings within a folder. These instructions on deleting a recording from X1 provide more details.
  • Numeric Keypad: Use the alphanumeric keypad to directly tune a channel (e.g., 010 or 818) or use the predictive search feature to search by keyword, such as channel name or actor (e.g., search for NBC by pressing 6-2-2). Learn more about searching X1 with the remote control keypad.
