Manage registered devices for verification

A registered device is a mobile phone or tablet linked to your account that can receive notifications asking you to approve sign-ins and help verify your identity.

When you sign in to the Xfinity app on a phone or tablet for the first time, with two-step verification turned on, that device is registered automatically.

Registered devices can:

  • Allow you to approve or deny sign-in requests.
  • Help verify your identity during sign-in.
  • Be managed or removed in the account’s security settings.

When someone tries to sign in to your account, notifications may be sent to your registered devices so you can approve or deny the request.

You can register up to five devices to your account.

Register a device

Most devices are automatically registered the first time you sign in to the Xfinity app when two-step verification is on. Xfinity will send you an email or text message when a device is added or removed.

To manually register the device currently being used:

  1. Open the Xfinity app.
  2. Tap Account at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap Account Settings.
  4. Select Xfinity ID and Security.
  5. Tap Registered devices.
     Button to register devices.
  6. If the device is not already registered, tap Register this device.
    Register this device.
  7. Tap Turn on.
    Turn on to register device.
  8. An email or text message will be sent to confirm that the device was successfully registered.
    • If notifications are turned off, you may be asked to update your notification settings to turn them on. Turning on notifications helps ensure that you receive important updates from the Xfinity app.
      • Note: Turning on notifications is optional.

    • You may be asked if you would like to add an extra layer of security, like Face ID, when approving sign-in requests in the Xfinity app. If Face ID is turned off, you may be asked to update your device settings to turn it on.
      Set up Face ID.

Note: This security feature is optional.

Remove a registered device

To remove a registered device:

  1. Open the Xfinity app.
  2. Tap Account at the bottom of the screen.
  3.  Tap Account settings.
  4. Select Xfinity ID and Security.
  5. Tap Registered devices.
  6. Tap the registered device you want to remove.
    Option to manage registered devices.
  7. Tap Remove device.
    Option to remove device.
  8. Tap Yes, remove device.
    Confirm to remove device.
    • You may be asked to verify your identity before making this change. Enter the code sent through email or text. Choose one of two options:
      • Tap the notification in the Xfinity app; or
      • Enter a code sent through email or text.
    • After you verify your identity, the device will be removed, and you will return to the Manage Registered Devices page.
  9. You will receive an email or text message confirming that the device was successfully removed.

Note: A device may be removed from the list of registered devices if another user signs in to the Xfinity app on that device. If this happens, Xfinity will send an email or text message to let you know the device was removed from the account.
