How to turn on or off a Number Lock

Number Lock is a free security feature for Xfinity Mobile and NOW Mobile. It protects your phone number from unauthorized transfers and common scams, such as SIM swaps and port-out fraud.

When Number Lock is turned on, it helps prevent someone from:

• Transferring your phone number to another device or wireless carrier.
• Receiving your calls or text messages.
• Accessing accounts that use your phone number for verification.
• Making unauthorized changes to your mobile service.

You can turn Number Lock on or off at any time through the Xfinity app or online.

For your security, only the Primary or Manager user can turn off Number Lock. Viewers and guest users can turn Number Lock on, but they can't turn it off.

We recommend leaving Number Lock on unless you need to:

• Transfer your number to another carrier.
• Activate an existing line on a new device.

Turn on Number Lock in the Xfinity app

1. Sign in to the Xfinity app.
2. Complete two-step verification if prompted.
3. Select Services.
4. Under Mobile, select Mobile lines and data usage.
5. Choose the mobile line you want to protect.
6. Under Line management, select Number Lock.
7. Select Turn On Number Lock.

You'll see a confirmation message and receive an email confirming that Number Lock is on.

Note: If two-step verification fails, visit an Xfinity Retail Store with a valid photo ID for assistance.

Turn off Number Lock in the Xfinity app

1. Sign in to the Xfinity app using the Primary or Manager Xfinity ID.
2. Complete two-step verification if prompted.
3. Select Services.
4. Under Mobile, select Mobile lines and data usage.
5. Choose the line that you want to unlock.
6. Under Line management, select Number Lock.
7. Select Turn off Number Lock.

You'll receive a confirmation message and an email confirming Number Lock is off.

Turn on Number Lock online

1. Sign in to your Xfinity Mobile account using the Primary or Manager Xfinity ID.
2. Complete two-step verification if prompted.
3. Go to the Devices tab.
4. Select Manage Device for the line you want to protect.
5. Select Turn on Number Lock.

You'll receive an email confirming Number Lock is on.

Turn off Number Lock online

1. Sign in to your Xfinity Mobile account using the Primary or Manager Xfinity ID.
2. Go to the Devices tab.
3. Select Manage Device for the line.
4. Select Turn off Number Lock.

You'll receive an email confirming Number Lock is turned off.
