Phishing scams are a growing problem, with scammers always trying new ways to trick people. To help protect you from phishing, Xfinity shows a suspicious email banner and logo on emails that may be fraudulent or phishing.
Suspicious email banner and logo
Scammers often send fake emails that look real, and try to trick you into giving them personal information. They may pretend to be Xfinity or Comcast.
The suspicious email banner and logo appear in your webmail toolbar next to any email that Xfinity finds questionable. This helps warn you that an email may be a scam or a fake. When it displays, you should take extra care with that message.

Note: The suspicious email banner and logo appearing next to an email do not mean it is confirmed to be a scam. You should give marked emails extra scrutiny.

Common phishing signs
Bad actors may pretend to be Xfinity or spoof websites to get your personal information. Here are some tips to identify potential threats:
- Hover over links for misleading websites.
- Some scammers purchase similar website addresses to Xfinity and others — often with typos or misspellings — to fool people who go to those sites.
- Always check the sender’s email address.
- If the email has an unrecognizable address, double-check it’s real before trusting the message.
- Be wary of urgent language.
- Scammers often use threatening language (e.g., "verify immediately or lose access") to make you act without thinking.
- Never open links or attachments in unsolicited emails or text messages.
- They may run hidden malware or spyware programs, or a virus that can steal your data.
- If you see a misspelling, low quality image, or other mistakes and inconsistencies, delete the email, or report it by clicking the mark as spam button in the toolbar.
