Your DVR recordings when you move
To learn what happens to your DVR recordings when you move, review the information below.
Recordings stored on the TV Box
Recordings physically stored on your DVR TV Box transfer during your move when you keep the same equipment. However, if you switch your equipment when moving, you lose all the recordings physically stored on your DVR TV Box hard drive.
Cloud recordings — X1 DVR TV Box
If you move and disconnect your account without setting up Xfinity service at your new address, you may lose your recordings. Always let us know when you move so we can transfer your recordings to your new account.
Any scheduled recordings won’t be recorded by the X1 DVR TV Box during the move period if it isn’t connected to the system. However, recordings resume immediately after activating new service at your new address.
Your DVR recordings when you exchange your equipment
Exchanging or getting a completely different TV Box, including upgrading to Xfinity X1, may impact your DVR recordings and scheduled recordings. Important details on this experience can be found below.
Exchanging a non-X1 TV Box for another TV Box
You’ll lose all recordings, and you’ll need to reschedule recordings on the new TV Box. You can check Xfinity On Demand or the Xfinity Stream app to see if DVR titles are available for viewing in either of these locations.
X1 TV Box for another TV Box
You won’t have to reschedule future recordings, but you’ll lose any recordings not available in the cloud. You can verify your cloud-based recordings by accessing the Xfinity Stream app and selecting Recordings from the main menu. Any recordings in the Xfinity Stream app are accessible on your new X1 TV Box.
