Whether you’re moving across town or starting fresh somewhere new, transferring your Xfinity service doesn’t have to be on your list of things to stress about. Xfinity makes it easy to get set up at your new place. Here, we take a look at what to expect and simple steps to take to ensure your service transfer is smooth-sailing.

Schedule your move up to 30 days in advance

Current Xfinity members can begin the process to transfer service to a new address up to 30 days before move-in day. Just sign in to your Xfinity account, enter your new address and move date, and choose an installation window that works for you. If you have Xfinity TV, you can also kick off the process by saying “Move with Xfinity” into your voice remote.

If you qualify for self-installation, you can activate your services as soon as you move in using the Xfinity app. Professional installation can be scheduled as early as the next day, subject to appointment availability.

Get online the same day with Xfinity Same Day WiFi

Moving and need your WiFi up and running as soon as possible—like, today? Xfinity Same Day WiFi makes it happen. Place an online order for Xfinity WiFi and you can have your WiFi equipment in-hand as soon as today, either by picking it up at a local Xfinity store or by selecting same-day delivery at checkout (where available).

Place your order by 3pm and head to your nearest Xfinity store and grab your equipment today. Note that some equipment may not be available at every retail location for same-day pickup, and you should confirm availability before you make the trip.

Once you have your equipment:

You can be online in minutes: no waiting on technician appointment or shipping.

For current Xfinity members transferring service, your existing network name and password carry over, so devices already configured on your network will connect instantly.

Test your network speed and performance at any time using the Xfinity app.

Stay connected between addresses

If you will have a gap in time between when you move out and move in, you won’t be billed for the lapse in Xfinity service during those days. In the meantime, you can stay connected by accessing available Xfinity WiFi hotspots, which is already included with your Xfinity WiFi plan at no extra charge.

Moved in but still haven’t set up your TVs? The Xfinity Stream app lets the whole family keep watching movies, shows, and live events from anywhere.

What to expect during your move

Here are answers to a few of the most common moving questions:

Will I pay a fee to transfer service?

There are no termination or transfer fees when you move your Xfinity service to a new address or switch to a new plan. An installation fee may apply if you’d like professional help getting set up at your new address.

What happens to my equipment?

You may be able to bring your existing equipment with you. View your equipment information in My Account to ensure you have gathered all necessary components for easy set up and installation at your new address.

If you are making any changes to your service, such as upgrading or adding internet services, you may need new or different equipment. If new equipment is needed, you may be able to opt to have it delivered same day or pick it up at a local Xfinity store the same day through Same Day WiFi. If you prefer, you can also use the Xfinity app to schedule a professional installation.

Can I keep my current plan?

Offers vary by area. If your current plan isn’t available at your new address, you can explore the latest internet deals to choose from available plans. If Xfinity doesn’t serve your new area, the team will help you return your equipment before you go.

What if my internet seems slow after the move?

To optimize speed and reliability, be sure to use the Xfinity app when setting up and activating internet equipment at your new address. The Xfinity app makes it easy to run a speed test and monitor performance right away. If you’re still running into issues, contact the Xfinity support team.

Manage everything with the Xfinity App

Once you’re moved in, the Xfinity app is your go-to for managing your service, from activating equipment and scheduling appointments to troubleshooting and paying your bill. You can also opt in to real-time text updates about your installation by texting ‘appt’ to 266278.
