Why won't my mobile device power up?

No matter the reason, it is frustrating when you can’t turn on your mobile device. Here are some things you can try to bring it back to life:

• Plug it in.
  • If the battery was completely drained, it may need a few minutes of charge before it comes back on.
• Try a different charger or outlet.
• Try to reset it.
  • If you are using an Android device, attempt to power on the device by holding the power and volume down buttons at the same time. If this works:
    • You'll receive a boot load screen.
    • Use the volume buttons to toggle to the option Restart device.
    • This should restart the device, and bring you to your normal lock screen.
  • If using an iPhone device, quickly press and release Volume Up, quickly press and release Volume Down, then press and hold the Side/Power button until the Apple logo appears. This should force restart the device.
• Turn to the pros:
  • iPhone: Find out what to do if your iPhone won't turn on.
  • Android: Fix an Android device that won't charge or turn on.
