The Federal Communications Commission (FCC)’s SCA allows a survivor of domestic violence or their designated representative to submit a line separation request, on their behalf or on the behalf of someone in their care, if they can document that a person, commonly referred to as the alleged abuser, on the shared mobile services account committed a “covered act” against them.
Starting July 10, 2024, a survivor can request that:
- Their line(s) and the line(s) of anyone in their care be separated from an account shared with an alleged abuser, including porting to a new service provider, or
- The abuser’s line be separated from a shared account insofar as the survivor is the primary account holder.
Complete the SCA line separation request
There are two ways to complete the SCA line separation request:
- Go to xfinity.com/support/account-management/safe-connections and follow the required steps, or
- Print the SCA line separation request and email it directly to safeconnections_requests@comcast.com
Emergency communications support
Pursuant to the SCA, a survivor may be eligible for emergency communications support under the Lifeline program for up to six months, and for additional time if the survivor otherwise qualifies for the program. Lifeline provides participants with discounts that can be used on mobile service. Comcast does not participate in Lifeline. If, however, a survivor is interested in receiving a benefit under the Lifeline program or obtaining more information on providers who participate in the program, that information can be found at lifelinesupport.org or fcc.gov/general/lifeline-program-low-income-consumers.
