Follow these instructions to pair your controller to your X1 TV Box or Xumo Stream Box to enhance your Amazon Luna app experience.
Note: If you’re attempting to pair an Xbox Series X|S controller to your X1 TV Box, you may see a Connection Failed error message. Typically, you just need to update the firmware on your Xbox to resolve this issue. For those instructions, go to this Xbox controller help site.
Pair your controller
The official Luna Controller connects directly to Amazon’s custom game servers through its own WiFi connection. This helps create a smoother gaming experience and reduces latency. For assistance in pairing your Luna Controller to the X1 TV Box or Xumo Stream Box, follow these instructions.
In addition to the Luna Controller, Amazon Luna supports a variety of Bluetooth controllers.
To pair your Bluetooth controller to the X1 TV Box:
- Go to the Settings menu (click the Xfinity button on your remote and scroll over to the gear) on your X1 TV Box.


- Scroll down to and click on Accessibility Settings or Device Settings (Bluetooth settings are in both menus).

- Scroll down to and click Bluetooth Devices.

- Now, your device will begin to look for Bluetooth devices to pair to.
- Find and select the device you wish to connect under Discovered. Please make sure your device is in Bluetooth pairing mode so that it can be found. For those instructions, see the next section.

- Please wait while your device connects. Once connection is complete, you will see Connected on the right side of the screen.

Note: If you're seeing a Connection Failed message when attempting to pair your Xbox Series X|S controller to your X1 TV Box (screenshot below), it's likely due to the controller's firmware. Typically, you just need to update the firmware on your Xbox to resolve this issue. For those instructions, go to this Xbox controller help site. - Your device is now connected! Next time you open the Amazon Luna app on your X1 TV Box, you’ll be able to use your Bluetooth controller to play games.
Note: You will not be able to use your Bluetooth controller to navigate outside of the Luna app on your X1 TV Box. - Once you’re done playing games using the Luna app, your Bluetooth controller will not automatically turn off. You’ll need to manually turn off your controller once you’re no longer using it.
To pair your Bluetooth controller to the Xumo Stream Box:
- From your Xumo Stream Box home page, scroll down to Gaming.
- From the Gaming menu, select Luna.
- Select Add controller.

- If you don’t see this option, exit the Luna app and go to the Settings menu (gear
button on your remote) on your Xumo Stream Box.
- Click Settings, then click Connected Devices.

- If you don’t see this option, exit the Luna app and go to the Settings menu (gear
- From the Manage devices screen, select Add new device.

- Select the device you wish to connect, then select Connect. Please make sure your device is in Bluetooth pairing mode so that it can be found. For those instructions, see the below section.

- Please wait while your device connects.

Put an Xbox or PlayStation controller into Bluetooth pairing mode
To put your Xbox controller into Bluetooth pairing mode:
- Press and hold the Xbox button to turn on the controller.
- Press and hold the pair button for three seconds.
- When the Xbox button is flashing, it’s ready to be discovered in the Bluetooth device list.

To put your PlayStation controller into Bluetooth pairing mode:
- Turn off your controller. Press and hold the PS button until the light bar turns off.
- Press and hold the Create/Share and the PS button for three seconds.
- When the light bar is flashing, it’s ready to be discovered in the Bluetooth device list.
