Set up the XFINITY TV Remote App

Once you set up the XFINITY TV Remote app, you can use your mobile device just as you would a remote.

Setting up the XFINITY TV Remote App

  1. Download the XFINITY TV Remote app from the iTunes app store to your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. For Android, download from Google Play.
  2. Select the XFINITY TV Remote app on your device.
    • Apple devices
      Apple iOS mobile login screen.
       
    • Android smartphone
      Android mobile login screen.
       
  3. Once logged in, you’ll be provided with your list of eligible TV Boxes.
  4. Be sure that your TV Box and TV are both turned on. When your eligible TV Boxes are displayed on the app, a message will be sent to your TV Box to match the name listed on the XFINITY TV Remote app.
  5. Tap on each TV Box to enter a name that you’ll be able to remember in the future for controlling your TVs.
  6. If you have more than one eligible TV Box, go through the same process for each TV Box in your home.
  7. After naming your TV Boxes, click Continue.
  8. Select Finish. You’re now ready to use the XFINITY TV Remote app!
  9. If you have an eligible DVR on your account, DVR Manager will also be activated so that you can schedule recordings from your device.

Troubleshooting Common Problems

Tuning Your TV from the XFINITY TV Remote App

There are several ways you can tune to a TV show using the XFINITY TV Remote app:
  • In TV Listings, tap Watch on TV to tune your TV to the selected program in TV Listings.
  • In TV Listings, tap Watch Channel or the channel number/logo to tune directly to that channel.
  • In TV Listings, tap Previous Channels in the upper right-hand side of the grid. This will show you the last few channels you visited from the XFINITY TV Remote app, and you'll see what's playing on that channel currently. Simply tap on the channel you'd like to watch now.
  • In XFINITY On Demand, select Watch ON to tune your TV to the On Demand program information screen.
    Note: You will need your Comcast remote to complete the purchase/watch for play.
On Apple devices, it's now even easier to find TV shows and movies using the XFINITY TV Remote app - just tap the microphone icon and say things like, "Record Saturday Night Live," "The Secret Life of Pets," and "Channel 810." However, please note that this functionality only works on XFINITY X1 TV Boxes and requires that the device has iOS 10 or higher.

Controlling Other TV Boxes from the XFINITY TV Remote App

You can control any eligible TV Box in your home with the XFINITY TV Remote app. To select a particular TV Box connected to the TV you're watching:

Apple Devices
  1. Select the TV Box name in the upper right-hand corner of the app on your iPad or in setting for your iPhone/iPod touch.
  2. You'll see a drop-down menu with all of the eligible TV Boxes that can be used with the XFINITY TV Remote app.
  3. Select the name of the TV Box you want to control.
  4. You're ready to go!

Android Devices
  1. Select the TV Box name from Settings.
  2. You'll see the TV Box name you are currently controlling, and can tap to see a drop-down menu with all of the eligible TV Boxes that can be used with the XFINITY TV Remote app.
  3. Select the name of the TV Box you want to control.
  4. You're ready to go!
