XFINITY On Demand Content Online and on Mobile Devices - FAQs

The TV shows and movies (free to rent, available to rent for a fee or for purchase) on XFINITY TV are provided under licensing rules that can limit where and the amount of time we offer programming in the XFINITY Stream portal (www.xfinity.com/stream) and on mobile devices with the XFINITY Stream app.

Our content team is constantly working to bring you a wider selection of TV shows and movies. We add new content daily, but due to licensing agreements, we may not have every movie, show or episode available for viewing.

FAQs

If XFINITY On Demand is not available on my TV, can I still access On Demand content online or through the mobile app?
Due to some restrictions, XFINITY On Demand services are not available in some markets. If you live in one of these areas, you will not have access to On Demand content through your TV Box, in the XFINITY Stream portal or on mobile devices with the XFINITY Stream app.

Why are some shows available On Demand or online but not on mobile devices, and vice versa?
Some programs that we are allowed to show On Demand by the content owners may not be allowed online via the XFINITY Stream app or XFINITY Stream portal. As an XFINITY TV customer, you will also have access to additional television shows, movies and other special content through television providers not available to the general public. Why are CW shows not being added the day after they air online?
CW has imposed restrictions regarding when users may view their current content online. As a result, users will have to wait eight days after a CW program has aired on the television network before they can watch the program in the XFINITY Stream portal or on the XFINITY Stream app.

Why is CW available On Demand or online but not on mobile devices?
Due to restrictions imposed by CW, the television network's programming is only allowed On Demand and via the XFINITY Stream portal but is not available on mobile devices through our XFINITY apps.

Why does Comcast charge me to watch some programs on XFINITY On Demand, but the same programs are free via the XFINITY Stream app or XFINITY Stream portal?
Each content provider decides which programs are offered to customers free of charge, whether online or on TV. Some programs may carry a minimal fee on television but are free online or on mobile devices. In addition, some programs may be shown earlier online or on mobile devices than they are on television. This is based on the individual content provider's decision.

Why isn't a movie or TV show available to watch online or on mobile devices?
Our content team is constantly working to bring you a wider selection of TV shows and movies. We add new content daily, but due to licensing agreements, we may not have every movie, show or episode available for viewing.

Are pay per view sports packages or pay per view events available on the XFINITY Stream app?
No, not at this time.

Why are there advertisements during online videos?
To have the rights to put most shows online or on mobile devices, we are required by the owners of those shows to put in ads. In many cases, you will notice that shows watched on TV have many more commercials than the same show we play online. Some of our premium partners like HBO, Showtime, Starz Encore, Cinemax and Starz are ad-free so you can watch their shows and movies without interruption.

Why is some content only available for purchase and not available for rental?
Titles are often available for purchase before they are available for rent or on DVD. Availability of titles for purchase or for rental on XFINITY On Demand is subject to content agreements. For more information, see these FAQs about XFINITY On Demand purchases.
