Beginning June 2025, comcast.net email accounts will begin transitioning to Yahoo Mail. This transition will happen in phases through 2026. There is nothing you need to do until we let you know that it’s time to complete the move.
You’ll keep the features you love most about Xfinity Mail when you make the move — including your current comcast.net email address, messages, folders, and contacts.
Note: Moving to Yahoo Mail will only impact your comcast.net email address. None of your other Comcast services will be impacted.
What to expect
You'll be notified 30 days in advance to move your comcast.net email account(s) to Yahoo Mail. When the time comes, you will have three options:
- Move your email to Yahoo Mail by accepting Yahoo’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to keep your comcast.net email address.
- Export your email data using the Xfinity Email Export Portal.
- Close your account using the Xfinity Email Export Portal, which will result in email account closure and data deletion.

FAQs
Why are Comcast.net emails moving to Yahoo Mail?
As we prepare to sunset the Xfinity Email platform, we’ve chosen to partner with Yahoo Mail to provide active Comcast.net email users continued access to their email accounts and the ability to keep their current email address along with an improved email experience.
We believe Yahoo Mail provides the ultimate modern email platform, with AI-driven tools to streamline your inbox management, advanced email protection, smart and intuitive calendar features, and a mobile app so you can stay connected on the go.
This move does not impact any paid services or other customer relationships existing customers may have with Xfinity or Comcast; Xfinity services will continue to remain subject to Comcast terms of service and privacy policy applicable to those services.
Which email accounts will move to Yahoo Mail?
All users of active Comcast.net email accounts, including those used by current and former Xfinity customers, will have the option to move to the Yahoo Mail platform. An email account is considered active if it has been signed into within the past two years.
How do I move my Comcast.net email account to Yahoo Mail?
To move your Comcast.net email account to Yahoo Mail, just accept Yahoo’s terms of service and privacy policy when prompted. If you have more than one Comcast.net email account associated with your Xfinity account, you will need to accept the Yahoo terms for each one that you wish to move, as each mailbox will be treated separately.
Below are a few tips to ensure a smooth transition:
- Download and delete any emails with attachments totaling more than 25 MB since we will not be able to move them. Otherwise, they will be moved to a separate folder in your Xfinity Email inbox, and you will be notified that you have 30 days to download them.
- Reduce or consolidate your mailbox if your folders exceed 4,100 or contacts exceed 10,000. Yahoo Mail can only move up to 4,100 folders and 10,000 contacts per mailbox. If you exceed 4,100 folders, your folders will be consolidated upon moving. You will lose any contacts over 10,000.
I have more than one Comcast.net email account. Do I need to move each one separately?
Yes. If you have more than one Comcast.net email account, you will need to accept the Yahoo terms for each one that you wish to move, as each mailbox will be treated separately.
How will I know when I can move to Yahoo Mail?
We will email you once the Yahoo terms of service are available for you to accept. Current Xfinity customers may also receive an SMS reminder and be notified in the Xfinity app when the Yahoo terms of service are available. Once you accept the Yahoo terms of service, you will only have access to your email through Yahoo Mail.
How long do I have to accept Yahoo terms and conditions?
Once the Yahoo terms of service are made available to you, you will have 120 days to accept them and move to the Yahoo Mail platform. (However, if you do not accept them within the first 30 days, you will lose access to your email until you accept them and complete your move to Yahoo Mail.)
Can I continue accessing my Comcast.net email on the Xfinity Email platform after I’ve accepted the Yahoo terms of service and privacy policy?
No. Once you accept Yahoo terms of service, Yahoo Mail will become your email provider, and you will only be able to access your Comcast.net email via the Yahoo Mail platform.
If I don’t want to move to Yahoo Mail, what are my options?
If you don’t want to move your Comcast.net email account to Yahoo Mail, you can choose to download or export your email data or simply close your account. However, if you do not transfer your account to Yahoo Mail, you will lose your Comcast.net email address, your email account will be closed, and email data will eventually be deleted. To save your email data or close your account, get started here: export.xfinity.com.
Will I keep all my folders, contacts, and messages when I move my account to Yahoo Mail?
Most customers will keep their folders, contacts, and email messages when they move their email account to Yahoo Mail. A few exceptions include:
- Email messages with attachments of more than 25MB or in an unformatted format will not be moved. They will be moved to a separate folder in your Xfinity Email inbox, and you will be notified that you have 30 days to download them. Only up to 4,100 folders can be moved. Folders over 4,100 will be consolidated into a single folder.
- Folders with names over 240 characters will be moved; however, the folder names will be automatically truncated prior to moving.
- Only up to 10,000 contacts can be moved.
- Any user-created folders with names matching Yahoo system folders (like “Sent” or “Drafts”) will be renamed in Yahoo Mail.
Will my email attachments move to Yahoo Mail?
Yes, most email attachments will be moved to Yahoo Mail. However, email messages with attachments totaling more than 25 MB will not be moved. You’ll be notified if you have an email at risk of being deleted and have 30 days to retrieve the email.
Will I keep my Comcast.net email address if I move to Yahoo Mail?
Yes. If you accept the Yahoo terms of service and privacy policy, you will keep your current email address at the time of the move and continue to send and receive emails using your Comcast.net email address through the Yahoo Mail platform.
I access my Comcast.net email through a third-party email client. Can I continue to access through the third-party email client after I choose to move to Yahoo Mail?
Yes. You will need to:
- Accept Yahoo terms of service and privacy policy after signing into Yahoo Mail with your Comcast.net credentials.
- Change the configuration on your third-party client to reflect the settings on your new Yahoo Mail account so you can continue to access your email there in the future.
If you’ve accepted Yahoo terms of service but have not updated your Yahoo settings in the third-party email client, you’ll receive an error if you try to access your Comcast.net email via the third-party email client. You may also receive an error if you attempt to access your email through your third-party email client after your access to the Xfinity Email platform has ended.
Steps on how to set up your third-party app with Yahoo Mail.
I think I’ll just sign up with a different email provider. How do I forward my emails to a different email account?
We do not offer an option for email forwarding. If you decide to sign up with a different email provider, you will not be able to use your Comcast.net email address with that provider. However, you can export your Comcast.net email data to another email provider here: export.xfinity.com.
I already have a Yahoo email address. Can I have two accounts?
Yes, Yahoo permits you to have up to 10 accounts with Yahoo Mail. Learn more here.
Who can I contact if I need help setting up my Yahoo email account?
If your email address has not been moved to Yahoo Mail, you can contact us. If your account has been moved, you will find help and support at welcome.yahoo.com.
I currently forward all my Comcast.net emails to another email address. Will this continue to work?
No, forwarding settings will not be moved to Yahoo Mail, and all forwarding will stop once your Comcast.net email is moved to Yahoo Mail. If you want to continue email forwarding, you will need to set up forwarding through your Yahoo Mail account settings.
Will all my settings remain the same in Yahoo Mail?
No. Because the Yahoo Mail experience is different than Xfinity Email, your email settings, including filters and forwarding, will not be retained. You will need to set up your preferred experience in Yahoo Mail settings.
How will I access my email account through Yahoo Mail?
After you have agreed to Yahoo terms of service and privacy policy, you will use Yahoo Mail to access your email moving forward.
What if I forgot my Comcast.net password?
If you forget your password before you have accepted the Yahoo terms of service and privacy policy, enter your Xfinity ID here, then click “Forgot password?” and follow the instructions on that page.
If you have already accepted the Yahoo terms of service and privacy policy, you will need to follow Yahoo Mail’s password reset process.
If I change my password for my Comcast.net email, will that change the password I use to sign in to my Xfinity account?
If you change your password before you have accepted the Yahoo terms of service and privacy policy, your password will be updated for both your Comcast.net email and your Xfinity account. Once you accept the Yahoo terms of service and privacy policy, any password changes to your Comcast.net email in Yahoo Mail will not impact your Xfinity account password.
