Let's set up an XR2 or XR5 Remote to pair with non-X1 TV Boxes.
Reprogramming the remote
To change the XR2 or XR5 Remote to infrared (IR) mode (the non-X1/non-RF mode):- Press and hold the Setup button until the light changes to green.
- Press A, B or C, depending on which TV Box you have:
Button RNG TV Boxes DTAs Motorola TV Boxes Cisco/Scientific Atlanta TV Boxes A X X B X C X - The remote is now programmed!
- To test it, aim the remote at the TV Box and press any button.
Pair to a TV Box
To pair the XR2 or XR5 Remote with a Non-X1 TV Box:- While the TV is on, press and hold the Setup button on the remote for three seconds until the All Power button changes from red to green.
- Enter the first five-digit code listed for the TV manufacturer.
- Note: The All Power button should blink twice.
- Aim the remote at the TV, and press the Power button.
- If the TV turns off, turn the TV back on and verify that the volume and mute buttons work.
- If the TV did not turn off, repeat the procedure with the next TV manufacturer device code.
- Note: If none of the device codes operate the TV, refer to the online Remote Code Lookup tool.
