- New recordings will mirror all X1 DVRs in your home and the most recent 150 hours of recording will be available for playback on your mobile devices and computers. (We began increasing DVR storage from 60 hours to 150 hours at the end of April 2020 and expect the increased storage to be available to all customers by the end of 2020.)
- Storage capacity in the Cloud also increases as more X1 DVRs are added to your home. For example, if you have two X1 DVRs, the most recent 120 hours of recording will be available in the Cloud.
- You no longer have to select a default X1 DVR.
FAQs
Can I still watch all my recordings on all of my TV Boxes?
Yes, completed recordings will continue to be viewable on all X1 TV Boxes in the home.
How many programs can I record simultaneously?
You can record up to six programs at one time.
How can I block DVR content from being played on additional X1 devices in the home?
You can set Parental Controls at the device level. If a program has a Parental Control lock on it, anyone who attempts to view it will see a restricted notice and will need to enter the PIN to watch the program.
How does this change DVR scheduling?
If you have two or more X1 DVRs, you no longer have to manage multiple DVR schedules for each of your DVRs. A single recording schedule and series priority will record programs across all of the DVRs in your home based on a single schedule.
Is there a way to tell which DVR a program is recorded on?
No, the scheduler assigns recordings to the X1 DVR based on resource availability (tuner and storage).
I see the same disk full percentage on all my TV Boxes. What does the percentage mean?
The disk full percentage is the combined usage of all of the DVRs in your home and will be shown on all of your TV Boxes.
Do I need to select a DVR to schedule recordings to anymore?
No. Your scheduled recordings will be spread across all of the X1 DVRs in your home.
How are series priority lists merged on the recording schedules?
The series priority lists from all DVRs merges into a single series priority list. For example:
- The highest priority series on DVR-A will be the number 1 priority.
- The highest priority series on DVR-B will be the number 2 priority.
- The second highest priority series on DVR-A will be the number 3 priority.
- The second highest priority series on DVR-B will be the number 4 priority.
What if I have the same series recording set up on two or more DVRs?
The DVR will only keep one of the series recordings and delete the other. The most recently set or modified series will be kept.
What if I had the same one-time recording set up on two or more DVRs?
The DVR will only keep one of the recordings so the program is only recorded once. The most recently set or modified one-time recording will be kept.
What if I don't want whole home scheduling?
The X1 DVR is a whole home product. Independent DVRs are not available with Xfinity X1.
What happens if a DVR is removed from my account?
When a DVR has been removed from your account, your recording schedule recalculates based on the number of remaining recording resources in your home.
Note:
- Some previously scheduled recordings may no longer record.
- The recordings that are stored on the removed DVR will no longer be displayed in the Saved section.
What if I have X1 Cloud DVR and remove a DVR from my account?
Because the Cloud storage space has been reduced, recordings may be deleted in order to align with the reduced storage capacity in the Cloud. The reduction will use standard deletion rules and delete the oldest recordings that are marked Save Until Space is Needed.

No. This functionality is no longer needed.
