Set your default startup channel for X1

Learn how to set a channel to play automatically when powering your X1 TV Box.

Note: The default startup channel will automatically play when powering the X1 TV box on and off. It will not automatically play if only the TV is powered on and off.

Set your default startup channel from the Guide

1. Press the Guide button on the remote.
2. Navigate to the channel you want to set as your default startup channel.
   
   • Use the up arrow and down arrow buttons to move one channel at a time.
   • Use the Page Up and Page Down buttons to move several channels at a time.
   • To jump to a specific channel, search for it.
3. Highlight the Channel cell.
   
   
   
4. Press the Info button on the remote.
5. Use the right and left arrows to highlight the Default Channel.
   
   
   
6. Press OK on the remote.
7. The following message will display once your default startup channel has been set.
   

View or update your default startup channel from Preferences

1. Press the Xfinity button on the remote.
2. Navigate to the gear icon.
3. Press OK on the remote.
4. Navigate to Preferences.
5. Press OK on the remote.
6. Highlight the General option and press OK on the remote.
7. Navigate to Default Startup Channel and press OK on the remote.
   
   
   
8. Select Last Channel Watched to automatically play the last channel you watched.
   
   
   
9. To choose another channel, select Search for another channel.
10. Enter the desired channel number into the Search box.
11. Highlight the channel and press OK on the remote.
