This document provides you with the steps to verify and change the system date and time for Windows 10/11 and Mac (OS X). These steps should be used in cases when you are unable to access secured sites due to computer clock issues.
Windows 10/11
- Navigate to the Windows Start button on your taskbar.
- Then, select Settings or press the Windows logo key
+ I to open the Settings menu.
- Choose Time & Language and select Date & time. Verify the time zone is correct.
- If incorrect, click the Time zone section and make any necessary changes.
- Use the toggle button to turn on Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes if you are in an area that observes Daylight Savings Time.
- Compare the current date and time with the local date and time.
- Pay special attention to the year, month, and day.
- If the settings are not correct, make any necessary corrections on the calendar.
- Once you’ve made your changes, click the close button (X in the top-right corner) to exit the Date and Time window.
Mac OS X
- On your Mac device, navigate to the Apple menu
and then select System Settings.
- Click General in the sidebar.
- Click Date & Time on the right.
- In the Time Zone section, verify the time zone is correct:
- If incorrect, select the closest city from the pop-up menu or select the Set Time Zone Automatically Using Current Location check-box.
- In the Date & Time section, compare the current date and time with the local date and time.
- Pay special attention to the year, month, and day.
- If the settings are not correct, make any necessary corrections on the calendar.
- Once you’ve made your changes, click the Close button (red button in the top-left corner) to exit the Date & Time window.
