Some non-DVR TV Boxes allow you to record programs to your VCR or DVD player by using the On-Screen Guide to tune the TV Box to the correct channel at the correct time.
How to set a recording
- Press the Info button on your remote while browsing TV listings, or press the Info button twice while watching TV.
- If your TV Box has the capability to set or cancel a recording, a circle containing the letter R will appear at the bottom of the screen.
- Use the arrow buttons on your remote to highlight the recording option.
- Select Record and confirm it by pressing the OK button.
- At the date/time of the set recording, the TV Box will automatically tune to that channel and the following message will be displayed: VCR Recording in Progress.
Note: You do not actually have to have a VCR or DVD player (with recording functionality) hooked up for the recording to be set. If you receive the VCR Recording in Progress message but do not have a device connected, it's likely that a recording was mistakenly set through the guide.
How to cancel a recording
If you are already on the channel being recorded, simply click the Stop button on the remote.
Or, from the guide:
- Access the guide and locate the channel being recorded.
- Press the Info button.
- Use the arrow buttons on your remote to highlight the recording option.
- Select Do Not Record and confirm cancellation by pressing the OK button.
