The Xfinity Voice Remote (models XR11, XR15 and XR16) is a remote control that allows you to find what you want faster by using voice commands to change channels, search for shows, get recommendations, find out what song is playing on your TV screen and more. If you have Xfinity X1 or Xfinity Flex, you can use your voice to quickly find your favorite content, tune to channels, search and control your DVR.

The Voice Remote is available to eligible new and existing X1 and Flex customers. Visit your nearest Xfinity Store or Comcast Service Center to pick one up in person or contact us to have one shipped to you (additional fees may apply). XR11 Button Functions

  • TV Power: When the Voice Remote is programmed with a valid TV code, the TV Power button turns the TV on or off. Visit xfinity.com/remotes for programming information.
  • All Power: Turns on/off both the TV and TV Box. Visit xfinity.com/remotes for programming information.
  • Status LED: Indicates different status conditions.
  • VOL: When the Voice Remote is programmed with a valid TV or AV receiver code, the VOL+ and VOL- buttons increase or decrease the volume.
  • CH: Use CH+ or CH- to select the next channel.
  • Mute: Turns sound off or on.
  • Play/Pause: Play or pause live TV, Xfinity On Demand or DVR content.
  • FF: Fast forward Xfinity On Demand or DVR content.
  • Rew: Rewind Xfinity On Demand or DVR content.
  • Exit: Exit on-screen guides; stop and exit Xfinity On Demand and DVR content. When replaying moments from a live TV program, press Exit to return to the "Live" point.
  • Record (red dot): Records the current program. Learn more about recording a current program on your X1 guide.
  • Replay: With DVR service, replay jumps back 15 seconds within a program.
  • xfinity: Displays the main menu of the guide, providing access to all guide features, including DVR and Xfinity On Demand. For details on the main menu, see the overview of the X1 main menu.
  • Guide: Displays TV listings. When viewing the guide, press the Guide button to filter the guide by: All Channels, Free-to-Me, Favorites, HD, Movies, Sports, Kids and Trending. Learn more about navigating your X1 guide and filtering your X1 on-screen guide.
  • OK: Select a highlighted item within an on-screen menu.
  • Arrows: Arrow keys help to navigate through on-screen menus.
    • The right arrow pulls up the Mini Guide (learn more about navigating the Mini Guide on your X1 guide) to display what's on the current channel at that time. Press it again to preview up to 14 days ahead.
    • The down arrow accesses on-screen playback controls while watching any video.
  • Last: Returns to the previous channel or guide screen. Press Last when watching full-screen programming to see the last nine channels, DVR programs, or Xfinity On Demand programs watched.
  • Info: Displays detailed program information.
  • Page Up and Page Down:
    • Jump several rows up or down in the guide and in other menu pages.
    • Skip 10 minutes forward or back while watching Xfinity On Demand.
    • Skip five minutes forward or back while watching any live TV or DVR recording.
  • Setup: Used to pair a Voice Remote with the TV Box or programs for control of the TV or AV receiver.
  • Microphone: Activates voice control.
  • TV Input: Selects available inputs.
  • A: Press the A button to view the Help menu.
  • B: Press the B button to go directly to the Accessibility Settings screen. Learn more about Accessibility Settings on X1.
  • C: Press the C button to launch the Sports app and see scores, even while watching TV. Learn more about accessing the X1 sports app.
  • D: Use the D button to delete a single DVR recording or multiple recordings within a folder. These instructions on deleting a recording from X1 provide more details.
  • Numeric Keypad: Use the alphanumeric keypad to directly tune a channel (e.g., 010 or 818) or use the predictive search feature to search by keyword, such as channel name or actor (e.g., search for NBC by pressing 6-2-2). Learn more about searching X1 with the remote control keypad.

XR15 Button Functions

  • Power: Consolidated All Power and TV Power functionality
  • Status LED: Indicates different status conditions.
  • VOL: When the Voice Remote is programmed with a valid TV or AV receiver code, the VOL+ and VOL- buttons increase or decrease the volume.
  • CH: Use CH+ or CH- to select the next channel.
  • Mute: Turns sound off or on.
  • Play/Pause: Play or pause live TV, Xfinity On Demand or DVR content.
  • FF: Fast forward Xfinity On Demand or DVR content.
  • Rew: Rewind Xfinity On Demand or DVR content.
  • Exit: Exit on-screen guides; stop and exit Xfinity On Demand and DVR content. When replaying moments from a live TV program, press Exit to return to the "Live" point.

  • OK is no longer displayed. The center button of the directional pad should be used for the function. Select a highlighted item within an on-screen menu.
  • Arrows: Arrow keys help to navigate through on-screen menus.

  • Back Arrow: On other remotes, this is the "Last" button: Returns to the previous channel or guide screen. Press Back Arrow when watching full-screen programming to see the last nine channels, DVR programs, or Xfinity On Demand programs watched.
  • i (Info): Displays detailed program information.
  • Page Up and Page Down:
    • Jump several rows up or down in the guide and in other menu pages.
    • Skip 10 minutes forward or back while watching Xfinity On Demand.
    • Skip five minutes forward or back while watching any live TV or DVR recording.
  • There is no Setup button. It has been removed in favor of automatic RF pairing with the TV Box. You can continue to pair the Voice Remote with the TV Box or programs for control of the TV or AV receiver.
  • Microphone: Activates voice control.
  • TV Input: Selects available inputs.
  • A (Triangle): Press the A button to view the Help menu.
  • B: Press the B button to go directly to the Accessibility Settings screen. Learn more about Accessibility Settings on X1.

XR16 Button Functions

  • TV Input: Selects available inputs.
  • * (Set Your Own Shortcut): Choose to set a shortcut, such as accessibility, screensaver or guide.
  • Voice (Microphone): Activates voice control.
  • Home: Go to the home screen.
  • Navigation pad: Arrow keys help to navigate through on-screen menus.
  • VOL: When the Voice Remote is programmed with a valid TV or AV receiver code, the VOL+ and VOL- buttons increase or decrease the volume.
  • Mute: Turns sound off or on.
  • i (Info): Displays detailed program information.
  • Back Arrow: On other remotes, this is the Last button. Returns to the previous channel or guide screen. Press Back Arrow when watching full-screen programming to see the last nine channels, DVR programs, or Xfinity On Demand programs watched.

Pairing Instructions

Pair the XR11 Remote

Go to xfinity.com/support/remotes and follow the steps to pair your XR11 Voice Remote or watch a video to learn how to set up your remote.

Pair the XR15 Remote to an Xfinity TV Box

The XR15 Voice Remote is used for X1 or Flex and has no Setup button.

To use your XR15 remote to control your TV Box:
  1. Make sure the remote batteries are installed and your TV and TV Box are powered on.
  2. Set the TV input to the input connected to your Xfinity TV Box.
  3. Press and hold the xfinity and Info (i) buttons together for five seconds. Wait for the remote light to change from red to green.
  4. Follow the instructions by entering the three-digit, on-screen pairing code.
  5. Once your remote is paired, follow the on-screen instructions to set up power, volume and input control for your TV.

Pair the XR15 Remote to a TV

To use your XR15 remote to control your TV (including power, volume and input):
  1. While the TV is on, press and hold the xfinity and Mute buttons on the remote together for five seconds until the remote light at the top changes from red to green.
  2. Enter the first five-digit code listed for the TV manufacturer. As the code is entered, the remote light will blink on each digit entered.
    • Valid code = remote light blinks green twice
    • Invalid code = remote blinks red, then green
  3. Aim the remote at the TV and press the Power button.
    • If the TV turns off, turn the TV back on and verify that the Volume and Mute buttons work.
    • If the TV doesn't turn off, repeat this process with the next TV manufacturer device code.
      • Note: If none of the device codes operate the TV, find a code that works for your TV.

If you're still having issues, perform a factory reset:
  1. Simultaneously press and hold the A button [triangle] and the D button [diamond] until the status light on the remote changes from red to green. This takes about five seconds.
  2. Press 9-8-1 on your remote to complete the factory reset. Once this is complete, you can retry pairing your XR15 remote.

Pair the XR16 Remote to an Xfinity Flex Streaming Device

The XR16 Voice Remote is used for Flex only and has no numbers or setup button.

Pair an XR16 remote by following these steps:
  1. Make sure your TV and TV Box are on.
  2. Activate the remote by removing the pull tab on the back.
  3. Aim the remote at the TV Box and press the Voice (Microphone) button.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions that come up on your TV to finish setup.
  5. After initial setup, you can access the remote pairing instructions on the Remote Settings menu.

Pair the XR16 Flex Remote to a TV

Pair an XR16 remote by following these steps:
  1. Go to the Remote Settings menu. Press and hold the Voice (Microphone) button and say “Remote settings.”
  2. Choose “Voice remote pairing.”
  3. Follow the instructions on the TV to select your TV and audio devices.
