This article covers basic troubleshooting options for TV Adapter remote control issues.
Troubleshooting the TV Adapter remote
Problem: The TV does not have any sound.
Solution: The TV may be muted — press the MUTE button to restore volume. You can also try pressing the LANG button to restore volume. The LANG button changes the language on a channel, but if the channel doesn't support a second audio program, it may come across as no volume.
Problem: During programming, the Red Light displays one long blink.
Solution: An invalid entry has occurred. Check the key to be entered and try programming again.
Problem: The Red Light blinks when a key is pressed, but the TV Adapter and TV does not respond.
Solution: Make sure the remote control is aimed at the TV Adapter (or IR signal receiver) and TV and is not farther than 15-feet away.
Note: If you have connected the IR signal receiver to the TV Adapter, verify that the IR signal receiver is in clear sight of the remote control. Connecting the IR signal receiver disables the IR input on the front of the TV Adapter. So, if the IR signal receiver is not visible (maybe hanging loose behind the TV), the remote control will not be able to change the channels on the TV Adapter.
Problem: When using the volume lock sequence or code verification, the Red Light displays one long blink.
Solution: The long blink indicates that a valid TV code has not been programmed.
Problem: The audio output on the TV is not in the right language.
Solution: Press the LANG key to change the audio option back to the preferred language.
Problem: The remote control is not changing the volume.
Solution: There may be obstructions in the line-of-sight for the remote control, or the batteries may be dead or dying. You can also try to press and hold the VOL +/- button down, as some older models of the TV Adapter remote were designed to work better if the VOL +/- button is held down instead of tapped repeatedly.
Problem: The TV does not turn off using the TV Adapter remote control.
Solution: Check to ensure the TV Adapter remote control is programmed correctly for that make or model of TV.
