More details
To keep your account safe, it's a good idea to reset or change your password regularly. Xfinity knows you have a lot of passwords, and it’s easy to forget which one goes with which account. Here are some easy steps to keep your account secure.
- If you have a verified email or mobile phone number, that’s your Xfinity ID.
- Check here if you forgot your Xfinity ID.
- If you forget your Xfinity password, you can reset it at xfinity.com/password.
- If you know your password and just want to update it, you can do so at xfinity.com.
Xfinity may ask you to reset or update your password sometimes if there are outside threats, new security rules, or if we think your Xfinity ID has been compromised elsewhere. For your protection, if there is suspicious activity on your account, you may be asked to reset your password.
Password tips
Your Xfinity ID password:
- Must be between eight and 128 characters long.
- Must include at least one number and a special character.
- Cannot contain your name or username.
Also, you shouldn’t use the same password for multiple accounts. It might be easier to remember, but reusing passwords decreases your safety across different accounts if your password is compromised.
Check out these tips for creating a stronger password.
Be aware
- If you are the Primary account holder and don't have a mobile number or non-Xfinity email address listed on your account, you can call or chat to add that information. You can then use it to reset your password.
- Each Manager, Member, or Viewer can update their password. If you cannot change your password because you don't have a mobile number or personal (non-Xfinity) email address on your account, you will need the primary account holder to do it for you.
- Once you've reset your password, add a mobile number or email address to your profile to help with future password resets.
- If you keep having to request to change your password, even after you’ve entered new login information, clear the cache and cookies on your internet browser.
If you use a third-party email program for your Xfinity email, like Outlook, Apple Mail, Gmail, etc., you must go to those programs to update your Xfinity password.
Reset your Xfinity ID password
- Go to xfinity.com/password.
- Enter your Xfinity ID, a verified mobile phone number on your account, or a verified personal (non-Xfinity) email address. Then, click Continue.

- If you make a mistake when you enter your Xfinity ID, you won't see any password reset options.
- Choose how you want to reset your password by text message or email.
- Enter the password reset code sent through the delivery method. Then, click Continue.
- If you request a reset but don’t receive a code, check that your personal (non-Xfinity) email address or mobile phone number was entered correctly.
- You should also check your Junk or Spam folder if trying to reset by email.
- If you enter your code from a text message and it doesn’t match, check that you entered the reset code rather than the phone number that texted you.
- If you request a reset but don’t receive a code, check that your personal (non-Xfinity) email address or mobile phone number was entered correctly.
- Create and confirm your new password. Click Continue.
- You should get a confirmation when you're good to go.
