Transferring (porting) your number is easy and convenient. You can bring your current phone number with you or transfer it later. You can bring numbers from all carriers, so you can stay connected without any hassle.
Note: Do not cancel your account before the transfer is finished or we may not be able to transfer your number.
Key information for transferring your phone number
You’ll need to enter some account details from your previous carrier, including:
- Your account number
- A transfer PIN (one PIN per account)
- The account holder’s name
- The last four digits of the account holder’s Social Security number (SSN)
- The account billing address
- Confirmation that the account isn't locked

Keep in mind the activation process time varies if you're transferring:
- A phone number from another wireless carrier.
- This can take anywhere from 10 minutes to up to 72 hours when transferring from smaller wireless carriers.
- A landline phone number.
- This typically takes two to 10 business days.
- Don’t worry, you won’t lose access to your current phone number until the number transfer is complete.

Note: Toll-free numbers and pager numbers aren't eligible to be transferred to Xfinity Mobile or NOW Mobile. This includes 500, 800, 888, and 900 prefixes.
Numbers can’t be transferred to tablets or smartwatches.
Bring your current phone number to a new line
When you get your new phone from Xfinity Mobile or NOW Mobile, visit our activation article to get started. Follow the steps for transferring (or porting) your phone number from your previous service provider.
Bring your phone number to an existing line
If you're bringing your current number from another service provider to an existing line, follow these steps to transfer that number to Xfinity Mobile or NOW Mobile.
- Sign in to the Xfinity app.
- Select the Services tab.
- Scroll down and select Activate more devices.
- Choose a device that’s Ready for number transfer.
- Select Keep and transfer current number. Then, tap Next.
- If you’re current number is tied to a promotional offer, you will be asked if you’d like to proceed. Select Keep and transfer current number to proceed.
- On the Mobile Info screen, provide the phone number you want to transfer and your current mobile service provider from the drop-down list. Then, tap Next.
- On the Account Info screen, enter the primary account holder’s first and last name for your current service provider. Then, tap Next.
- On the Carrier Verification screens, provide specific service provider information as requested by the Xfinity app. This most often includes account number and ZIP code from your previous service provider. Then, tap Next.

- On the next Carrier Verification screen, enter the account port-out PIN, sometimes called account PIN, transfer PIN, temporary port-out PIN, security PIN, or number transfer PIN. Then, tap Next.
- On the next Carrier Verification screen, enter the last four digits of the primary account holder’s Social Security Number. Then, tap Next.
- On the Billing Verification screen, enter the billing address from your old service provider. Then, tap Next.
- After the information is confirmed, the number transfer process begins.
- The time it takes to transfer the number may vary based on the service provider you're porting your number from. It usually takes about 10 minutes.
- Porting from a landline can take up to three to five days.
- The number remains active on the current device until the transfer and new activation is complete.

The Xfinity app tells you when your number was successfully transferred to Xfinity Mobile or NOW Mobile.
Bring your current phone and phone number
You can keep your phone and update your network by bringing your own device to Xfinity Mobile or NOW Mobile. You’ll need the account details listed above to transfer your number.

Troubleshooting
If you received a notification that your number was transferred, but it’s not working yet, follow these steps to finish setting up your service:
- Restart your phone.
- Restarting your device is often all that’s needed to complete the transfer.
- If your device is still not working after five minutes, review Step 2.
- Reset network settings.
- If restarting doesn’t resolve the issue, try resetting your network settings.
- Important: Resetting your network settings will remove saved WiFi networks, VPNs, and other custom network configurations. You will need to reconnect these manually afterward.
