Meet Xfinity Gaming Editor Gordon

Xfinity Gaming Editor Gordon

Introducing Xfinity Gaming Editor Gordon— from gaming (his expertise) to cooking competition shows, Gordon gives us a glimpse into his favorite things below…

My Favorite Guilty Pleasure Show…

My wife and I have become obsessed with any show that combines creative baking and the holidays. We seriously set a series recording for “Holiday Wars,” “Halloween Wars,” “Haunted Gingerbread Showdown,” “Holiday Gingerbread Showdown,” “Holiday Baking Championship,” and more. It’s gotten to the point where we throw around terms like “plating” and “isomalt” like we know what we’re talking about.

My Favorite Curation on X1…

As the gaming editor, I’ve been curating a collection of YouTube videos for all of the industry’s top games. If you say “Fortnite,” “Minecraft,” or “Roblox” into your Xfinity Voice Remote, you’ll find a ton of videos. So far, we have over 200 individual titles with voice commands.

My Favorite Celebrity Interview So Far…

I’ve been doing celebrity interviews for the last 13 years, including talking to practically every person who has played “Survivor” during that period. My favorite? I’d have to say it was when I interviewed WWE Superstar “Stone Cold” Steve Austin for the reboot “Tough Enough.” We did a typical interview for 15 minutes while he was driving to San Diego. However, when we were done, he was having such a good time, he asked if I wanted to just chat while he drove. We ended up talking off-the-record about wrestling, Texas barbecue, life, love, and a variety of other topics.

The Celebrity I’m Dying to Interview Next…

Former MLB MVP Jeff Kent was a competitor on “Survivor: Philippines.” During our pre-game interview, he noticed that I had a St. Louis Cardinals hat on my bag. We got to talking about my childhood hero and his former nemesis Ozzie Smith. I was so engrossed in the conversation, that I completely forgot about the reality show we were supposed to be talking about. So, my dream interview is MLB Hall of Famer and St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Ozzie Smith.

If I Didn’t Do This, My Job Would Be…

I’d love to be a digital artist. I literally mess around with Photoshop as a hobby. Some of my designs have appeared on t-shirt-of-the-day sites and other popular online shops.

My Deserted Island Movie, TV Show, Song, and Video Game Are…

My movie is “Ghostbusters.” It’s easily my favorite movie of all time. When I was eight I went as the Stay Puft Marshmallow man for Halloween. In fact, that saddest day of my life was when I realized that Ghostbuster wasn’t a real job. My TV show would be “The Office.” If it’s on TV, I’m watching it. My song is “Synchronicity II” by the Police. When I was in college, I used to perform as a professional wrestler. (Yes, I know that’s ridiculous.) And that tune was my rockin’ theme music. And finally, my game would be “Batman: Arkham City.” I’ve beaten the game (and it’s a long game) three different times and I’m already looking forward to the next time I can don the cape and cowl.

If I Could Join Any TV Cast, It Would Be…

Wait, do I literally live in that universe or am I an actor on the show? If I live in the universe, I’d join “Succession” so I could be totally rich. But, if I was an actor on a show, it’d have to be “Saturday Night Live.” There’s just so much history and such an electricity to a live show. And, I feel like I’d eventually get to meet Kristen Wiig.
