Xfinity Home Security Limited Warranty

Scope and duration

This limited warranty, provided by Comcast Broadband Security, LLC (“Comcast”), covers (1) Xfinity-branded security, monitoring, automation or control devices and equipment that: (i) were purchased from or provided by Comcast and (ii) are connected to Xfinity Home service and located at the Xfinity Home service address; or (2) an Xfinity Touchscreen (i) leased from Comcast and (ii) is connected to Xfinity Home service and located at the Xfinity Home service address (“Leased Xfinity Touchscreen”) (“collectively, Covered Equipment”). Covered Equipment also includes security, monitoring, automation or control devices and equipment owned by you that are certified by an Xfinity Home technician as free from defects (“Certified”), and integrated into and controlled by the Xfinity Home system. This limited warranty lasts for thirty (30) days from the date the Covered Equipment was installed, fulfilled or Certified (the “Initial Term”) and automatically renews each month (each, a “Renewal Term”) for the duration of Xfinity Home service or 12 months, whichever is shorter. The renewal Term does not apply to a Leased Xfinity Touchscreen, which will remain covered by this limited warranty until your Xfinity Home service is cancelled or terminated. Comcast retains the right to terminate the coverage provided by this limited warranty at any point after the Initial Term; the termination will be effective at the end of the current Renewal Term.

Who is covered?

This limited warranty is extended only to the original purchaser or subscriber of Xfinity Home services, and does not extend to any other person.

What is covered?

Comcast warrants any failure of the Covered Equipment to operate due to a defect in material or workmanship (“Operational Failure”). Pursuant to this limited warranty, if the Covered Equipment experiences an Operational Failure, Comcast will, in its sole discretion, repair the Covered Equipment or replace it with equipment of like kind and quality with comparable features and functionality to the Covered Equipment. Replacement equipment may be new, refurbished, or remanufactured. THERE IS NO ASSURANCE, REPRESENTATION, OR GUARANTEE THAT ANY REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT WILL BE IDENTICAL.

What is not covered?

This limited warranty does not cover: (i) equipment connected to Xfinity Home service that was previously owned or purchased from a third party and that was not Certified and integrated into the Xfinity Home system by an Xfinity Home technician; (ii) batteries and other consumable components; (iii) Covered Equipment used for any commercial, public, lease or other non-residential purpose or in any manner in violation of the Residential Alarm Installation and services Agreement; (iv) cosmetic defects, or damage or failures that do not inhibit functionality or performance; (v) damage or failure resulting from: improper installation or setup; use in any combinations not approved in the manufacturer’s specifications; unauthorized modifications, alterations, repairs or repair personnel; (vi) damage or failure caused by any physical force external to the Covered Equipment, whether accidental, intentional or due to handling; (vii) costs associated with installation or de-installation of Covered Equipment; (viii) loss or damage to the Covered Equipment either while in storage or in the course of transit; (ix) normal periodic or preventative maintenance, inspections, cleaning, or tune-ups; minor adjustments and settings outlined in the user's manual for the Covered Equipment that the user can perform; (x) costs related to any service request that results in customer education or no problem found; (xi) Covered Equipment whose serial number has been altered or removed; (xii) Covered Equipment that has been moved from the location where installed by an Xfinity Home technician; (xiii) repair or replacement covered by a recall in effect at the time of the Operational Failure; (xiv) theft or loss of the Covered Equipment; (xv) wired components replaced by wireless devices; or (xvi) Company Equipment (as defined in the Residential Alarm Installation and Services Agreement) or Works with Xfinity Home devices.

How to obtain service?

In the event of an Operational Failure of the Covered Equipment, call Comcast at 1-800-XFINITY. All claims must be reported within thirty (30) days of the Operational Failure. At Comcast’s discretion, service will be provided either: (i) on-site by an Xfinity Home technician who will repair or replace the Covered Equipment, or (ii) by shipping replacement equipment to your Xfinity Home service address for self-installation. The foregoing service will be provided pursuant to this limited warranty at no additional cost. If Comcast provides service by shipping you replacement equipment for self-installation, you may be able to purchase professional installation of the replacement equipment for an additional fee; call 1-800-XFINITY for more information.

Conditions

Comcast may, at its sole discretion, require the return of the defective Covered Equipment to a designated location as a condition to receiving replacement equipment. Comcast will cover shipping costs associated with the return of the Covered Equipment. This limited warranty may not be assigned or transferred to any other person.
