XFINITY WiFi is a network of hotspots that allows you to connect at the fastest WiFi speeds around town while conserving usage on your cellular data plan.
There are two easy ways to find a WiFi hotspot:
Hotspots are being added frequently, so always remember to check for the “xfinitywifi” or “CableWiFi” signal in your list of available networks when you arrive at your destination.
XFINITY WiFi is available for no additional charge to XFINITY Internet and Comcast Business Internet customers who subscribe to one of the following:
If you are a new subscriber, you can begin using XFINITY WiFi right away, even before your XFINITY Internet service has been installed at home.
After the first time you’ve signed in, your device will automatically connect to XFINITY WiFi hotspots in the future. (Not applicable to Comcast Business Internet customers).
Recovering your email or username and password is easy.
If you are an XFINITY Internet customer, you can also chat with a Live Chat Representative, who can help you with your Comcast Email or username and password, or you can call 1-800-XFINITY.
Yes, you can access XFINITY WiFi with one of the following options:
When you initially connect to “xfinitywifi”, a sign in page will appear. If a sign in page does not appear automatically, open your browser and navigate to a Web site such as www.xfinity.com. The sign in page will now appear.
Comcast is committed to making your WiFi experience as fast, fun and safe as possible. Whenever you sign in, we help protect your privacy and the safety of your Comcast Email or username and password by providing 128-bit encryption on the sign in page. This is the same standard used by thousands of online banking and financial services sites around the world to protect your critical transactions.
However, for the most secure online experience possible, be safe and smart.
CableWiFi is an extension of the XFINITY WiFi service offered by Comcast, giving you access to even more hotspots on the go as you travel around the country.
When you are in a CableWiFi hotspot location (view coverage on www.xfinity.com/wifi ) you can access XFINITY WiFi at no additional charge using the “CableWiFi” network name.
If you are having problems connecting using CableWiFi please call 1-800-XFINITY (Comcast Business customers please call 1-800-391-3000).
Check to make sure you are in an XFINITY WiFi hotspot. If “xfinitywifi” is not in the list of available networks, then you are probably not in an XFINITY WiFi hotspot.
If the “xfinitywifi” network name is in the available network list and you still can't connect, check your WiFi-enabled device to see how many signal bars are present. If there are only one or two bars, you may need to move closer to the center of the signal - moving closer to the center of the hotspot will increase the quality of the connection.
If you still cannot get online and your Comcast Email or username and password are correct, it is possible that we are having a service issue. Please contact our Customer Support Center at 1-800-XFINITY and select the High Speed Internet service option.
No, you do not need the app to connect to XFINITY WiFi. The app helps you find hotspots when you are on the go.
For iOS (must be at least version 5.1), the following devices are supported:
For Android, any device running Android 2.2 or above.
Because there are so many XFINITY WiFi hotspots, searches are performed using a 10-mile radius from the center of the search term. Try including a city name or zip code for better results. You can also use the "Near Me" feature in the app to locate XFINITY WiFi hotspots near you.
You can modify your device’s location permissions by following these steps:
In the general device settings:
Please note, if you have enabled location services and are still experiencing this issue, your device may not currently be able to resolve your location (e.g. if you are on an iPod Touch with no GPS functionality, and WiFi is disabled, the device will not be able to determine your location).
There is an option to toggle auto-refresh on or off within the "Settings" page of the XFINITY WiFi app menu. By default the auto-refresh feature is enabled, but some users prefer to disable this feature. You can change your preferences in the XFINITY WiFi app by going to the "Settings" → "Auto Refresh" menu option.
The XFINITY WiFi app has two methods of updating map data. If there are a minimal amount of updates to apply, we'll download and install these automatically in the background. However, if a significant update is required, a notification will provide an approximate file size for the download. You can then choose whether to install the update now, or wait until a WiFi network is available.
Note: If you've elected to receive updates over WiFi only, you should occasionally launch the app while connected to a WiFi network to download hotspot updates.
Remember, you can always perform a manual update in the XFINITY WiFi app anytime:
First, please make sure you have installed the latest version of the app.
If you are still having trouble, please contact our customer care team via email at email@example.com. Please include the following information in your email:
Your XFINITY Wireless Gateway broadcasts an additional “xfinitywifi” network signal for use with XFINITY WiFi. This creates an extension of the XFINITY WiFi network right in your home that any XFINITY Internet subscriber can use to sign in and connect. This XFINITY WiFi service is completely separate from your secure WiFi home network.

Absolutely not. XFINITY WiFi is included with your existing Internet service.
Visitors who are XFINITY Internet subscribers can simply select the XFINITY WiFi network “xfinitywifi” on their device and open a Web browser to get started. They will be able to sign in with their Comcast Email or username and password.
We recommend using your own private WiFi network when you are at home and using XFINITY WiFi when you are visiting a friend or traveling around town.
The XFINITY WiFi service is designed to work on a separate network so that your home network remains entirely secure. By enabling guests to use XFINITY WiFi you won’t need to provide your private home WiFi network password to guests.
We encourage all subscribers to keep this feature enabled as it allows more people to enjoy the benefits of XFINITY WiFi around the neighborhood. You will always have the ability to disable the XFINITY WiFi feature on your Wireless Gateway by calling 1-800-XFINITY. You can also visit My Account at http://customer.comcast.com/, click on “Users & Preferences”, and then select “Manage XFINITY WiFi.”

Up to five devices can connect to the “xfinitywifi” signal simultaneously.
Using a WiFi-enabled device, verify that the “xfinitywifi” signal is available and that the device is connected. Open a browser and attempt to surf, and the device will be directed to the XFINITY WiFi sign in page. Additional connection help is available here. If the issue persists, please call customer support at 1-800-XFINITY.
The majority of mobile devices and tablets will automatically connect to the last successfully connected WiFi network at a particular location. Check your device’s WiFi settings to make sure you are connected to your private home network. You can find additional information on how to prioritize your networks with our Connection Guides.
This new feature enhancement is not yet available on all XFINITY Wireless Gateways or supported with all XFINITY Internet products. Wireless routers purchased at retail outlets don’t support the XFINITY WiFi service.
Check your device’s WiFi settings to make sure you are connected to your private home WiFi network. It is possible you may be connected to the “xfinitywifi” network instead.
The broadband connection to your home will be unaffected by the XFINITY WiFi feature. Your in-home WiFi network, as well as XFINITY WiFi, use shared spectrum, and as with any shared medium there can be some impact as more devices share WiFi. We have provisioned the XFINITY WiFi feature to support robust usage, and therefore, we anticipate minimal impact to the in-home WiFi network.
